California Coop | 4 Foot Wide Chicken Coop
Our California Coop (Cali Coop) is the answer for people without room for our standard-size walk-in chicken coops.
Starts at $4,500
After numerous requests for a smaller coop for people with small yards (mostly from customers in California), we created the California Coop. It has all the high quality and function of any Carolina Coop in a compact size for smaller yards and flocks!
Think of it as a tiny house for chickens.
The California Coop is perfect for small flocks of up to 4 full-sized hens (or more if you have bantams.)
Please Note: The California Coop chicken recommendation comes from the size of the henhouse. Therefore, it cannot accommodate more than 4-full sized hens, no matter how big the run is. This coop is only recommended for people who will always have a small flock.
• Chicken coops come unpainted and unassembled •

HOW MANY CHICKENS CAN I HAVE?
There are two important factors to consider when determining how many chickens should be in a chicken coop. The henhouse and the run area. (we refer to both these areas as the coop)
THE HENHOUSE: We like the one-foot rule, meaning one foot per chicken on the roost bars. Plenty of room and less squabbling at night. You can go 8-10 inches per bird and of course less space is needed for bantams. However, overloading the henhouse can result in other problems. Plus you always want room to grow your flock.
THE RUN:
Chickens need and prefer as much room as possible. If you cannot free range your chicken outside of the coop much or at all, the least amount of space is 10 sq.ft. per chicken. You will find you never have enough room for your chickens.
THE CALIFORNIA COOP CAN ACCOMMODATE 2-5 CHICKEN WITH FREE RANGING.
We make this recommendation for the health and well-being of your flock.

SHIPPING
Our coops will ship LTL (less than truckload).
FREIGHT TO RESIDENCE is a shipping option for a 3rd party freight carrier to
transport your palletized coop to your delivery address and off load your pallet curbside. This service is not available to all residential addresses. It is the responsibility of the customer to verify that a potentially 53-foot freight truck can deliver to your address. You can do so by calling your local zoning or highway department to verify and not incur additional fees. Read more here.
Your residence will be deemed inaccessible for tractor-trailer delivery if any of the following conditions apply:
Roads leading to your house have low-hanging branches.
Single-lane roads.
There are gated passes or entry codes.
There are small or narrow bridges.
The road is unpaved and has no through access.
There is no space for the truck to turn around.
Your residence is on a dead-end street or cul-de-sac.
If you have any of those conditions, you will need to choose Freight to Terminal Pickup.
FREIGHT TO TERMINAL is a shipping option for a 3rd party freight carrier to transport your palletized coop to a receiving terminal near you for pick up.
This is most popular as many residential addresses are not easily deliverable and transporting your coop/pallet from the curb to the back yard may be challenging and time consuming by hand. The terminal employees will load the pallet, with a forklift onto suitable transportation at your request or you can unpack the pallet at the terminal and load your vehicle by hand at your own pace. The terminal staff will NOT assist with hand loading but will typically dispose of your pallet for you if requested however, they are not obligated to do so. Read more here.
